However, people who have come a long way from non-ideological texts—those taking on the history of philosophy, anthropology, the history of the arts, the cultural philosophy of the East–have had much bigger impact on what we think of as academic writing than anyone else, or, this is especially evident in some of the most influential examples. While there are some limits to what can be perceived as scholarly scholarship, I hope that those limits don’t come with the full extent of the book. For the purpose of this posting, I shall primarily examine two specific problems with this text: 1. What is academic writing? There are two kinds of academic writing.
